How to Gain Access to the CMS

Sitecore CMS access will be granted after a CMS overview and basic training. Log-in information will be emailed from the CMS host company Merge containing your username, password, and the URL to access the CMS. The role of Editor or Approver will be assigned at this time.

Editor Role

Content Editors have the role of creating and editing content in the folders they have access to within the website. They manage the website primarily from the Experience Editor, which is an intuitive editing environment designed to edit and write content directly on the page as if viewing it from the browser.

Editors can perform the following functions:

  • Lock (Check out) and Unlock (Check in) pages
  • Insert a new page, page components, or sub-folder
  • Add/Edit content to a page they have access to
  • Preview pages
  • Upload media items (images and document files)
  • Edit media item properties
  • Lock (Check out) and Unlock (Check in) media items
  • Overwrite existing media items
  • View linked Items on a document file
  • Submit pages for review

Approver Role

The Content Approver role has the same permissions as an EditorApprovers will only be able to approve content to which they have access and once approved the content will be published to the live website.

Approvers can perform the following functions:

  • The same functions as a content Editor
  • Can Approve or Reject content back to the Editor
  • Approved content publishes to the live website
