What is a Rich Text Editor?
- The Rich Text Editor (RTE) is a tool that allows you to add or edit content, images, links, and other components on the page without having to know any code.
- The toolbar lets you structure and style content, promoting accessibility and user experience and making information easier to follow and understand.
- It displays the content and any formatting as it would display in the browser. Rich Text Editor (RTE) toolbar functions are similar to that of a word processor, with limitations.

Abridged Editor (RTE)

- Experience Editor
- Areas with basic editing options
Full Editor (RTE)

- Content Editor
- For the advanced users, purpose of designing, formatting, and creating new content
Rich Text Editor Toolbar

Not all tools are needed, if you hover on a tool the system displays a pop-up window of what it does. There are sections for formatting, linking, tables, working with code, and styles. For a more detailed explanation select the Question mark icon at the end of the toolbar.

Links
Links to web pages or documents can be inserted or removed using the different linking options.

Link Options:
- Internal (web page or document)
- External
- Phone

Selecting the tool opens a window for Internal, external, or the Media Library to create links.
Types of Links
Internal – Navigate to a page or document

External Link or Phone Number –Input an a full URL, or designate a phone number. i.e. Tel:860-876-5432
E-Mail Address– Input an email address. i.e. lrosado@uchc.edu


Inserting Images
Images can be inserted using the Insert Media Icon.
Selecting the tool opens the Media Library giving you the option to work with new or previously upload images.

Image Options:
- Search
- Upload
- Edit (Image properties)
- Insert
Tables
Tables are created using the Table Wizard, launched when selecting the Table Icon. After a table is created fields can be adjust manually and by returning to the Table Wizard.
