What is the Media Library?
- The Media Library is a folder within the Content Tree where all media items, images, and documents are stored for the website
- It is accessible from both the Content Editor and the Experience Editor with different user interfaces
- Key functions are the same with more options available when using the Content Editor
Types of Media
Images – This is where all images on your website are stored and managed. Here they can be organized into folders.
Documents – This is where all document files linked to your website are stored and managed.
Once in the Media Library, you can:
- Upload images and document files
- View and edit document file properties
- Over-write document files
- Create folders and organize images and document files
- Search for specific files using the Content Tree or the search feature
How to Access the Library
- From the Launchpad (Direct access icon)
- From the Content Tree
- Content Editor Footer option
- Content Detail section (News Articles)
Content Editor
Navigate by the Content Tree by opening carets to access sub folders.
Image Content Detail
- Quick info – File ID and it’s location
- Media – Used to replace an Item keeping the same name
- Image – Alt Text, Width and Height
- Information – Title, Keywords, Description, Extension, and Size
- Properties – Format and Dimensions
- Location – Country Code, Location Description, Zip Code
Document Content Detail
- Quick info – File ID and it’s location
- Media – Used to replace an Item keeping the same name
- Image – Alt Text, Width and Height
- Exif – Copyright, Date Time, Image Description, Camera Make, and Model (JPG Metadata)
- Information – Title, Keywords, Description, Extension, and Size
- Properties – Format and Dimensions
- Location – Country Code, Location Description, Zip Code
Media Library Folder
Entering the Media Library from the Content Tree displays the folders contents.
In folder view
- Folders show number of Items within
Items display
- Name
- Pixel size
- Warning if missing alt-text
- Number of usage
Navigate to your folder before using the options to Upload file, Upload file (advanced), or create a new folder.
Upload Media Items
Choose Upload File for a single image or document.
- Choose Upload File (advanced) for multiple files, select Choose File to add additional images or documents.
- New Folder can be used to hold groups of related images.
Upload from Experience Editor
The Select Media tool is activated when you choose to add an image or document from the Experience Editor.
Viewing Options
- All images
- All Video Files
- My Images
- Recently Uploaded images
- Recently Uploaded videos
- Recently Uploaded by me
