Project Thrive

Project Thrive thermometer

At UConn Health, we strive to provide the best healthcare in the nation. As the state’s flagship academic health system, we are also responsible for being good stewards and using resources responsibly without sacrificing quality, patient experience, or employee satisfaction.

Project Thrive is our work to meet the commitment we have made to the State to eliminate state support for UConn Health's clinical operations. Our combined efforts to mitigate FY26 budget gaps, execute our strategic vision, and expand access for all will not only achieve that goal but will also position UConn Health as the state’s indispensable leader for a strong, healthy Connecticut.

What does success look like?

UConn Health’s Strategic Vision: To be a financially thriving, statewide academic medical center known for clinical excellence, considered the employer of choice for healthcare professionals, and accorded prominent national stature for education and translational and clinical research.

For FY26: Our Project Thrive goal is to fill our FY26 budget gap of $46.7 million by finding new revenues and expense reductions that were not previously budgeted for FY26.

The graphic to the right shows our progress. The number labeled “Realized” shows the new revenues and expense reductions we have captured to date in FY26. The “Annual Estimate” shown is what we expect to capture if the identified cost-cutting measures continue through the end of the Fiscal Year (June 30, 2026).
