Chao Huang MSN, RN
Bio

Currently working as a workflow analyst III at UConn Health. My past nursing clinical experience includes ICU, Medical-Surgical, Long-Term Acute Care, and Interventional Radiology. I have developed a passion for Healthcare IT/Informatics. I began my Healthcare IT/Informatics career with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) vendor before transitioning to a hospital setting. I have extensive experience in EHR implementation go-live for acute hospitals and ambulatory settings, clinical workflow development, end-user EHR training, and data reporting/analytics.

Epic Applications Supported

I support all clinical workflows from a patient-centered, interoperability perspective, collaborating with interprofessional/ancillary teams. I am an Epic Clinical Informaticist and hold EpicCare Inpatient Clinical Documentation Certification, and Epic Case Management certification (in progress).

Interests

My focus is on supporting a patient-centric EHR system and clinical workflow by streamlining clinical documentation and enhancing interoperability.

Laura Karwoski DNP, RN
Bio

Workflow analyst II at UConn Health. ANIA member. Compassionate and dedicated doctoral (DNP) prepared nursing professional. Seventeen years of nursing clinical experience includes proficiency in the role of nursing education, clinical practice in obstetrical care including maternal/fetal ICU, mother-baby, NICU, OB emergency nursing, operating room, and nursing leadership. Over eight years of clinical systems experience in an acute care setting includes proficiency in the role of electronic health record (EHR) education, management, implementation, analysis, and design. Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in clinical operations, policy and procedure development, regulatory standards, legal and regulatory consulting, health care research, and quality improvement. Committed to advancing the quality of healthcare as an advocate for implementation of best practice standards, innovation, and lifelong learning.

Bio

I am a Board-Certified Nursing Informatics Specialist (NI-BC) and current DNP student, dedicated to bridging the gap between clinical practice and technical systems. My journey from the bedside in Med/Surg, Women’s Health, and the ER to informatics was driven by a deep interest in how systems are built and optimized. With a Master’s in Nursing Education and experience as an Epic-certified informaticist, I focus on translating complex clinical needs into intuitive workflows that support our nurses and providers.

I primarily support Ambulatory and ED workflows, but I collaborate across all clinical applications to ensure a seamless patient and provider experience.
