UConn UCEDD Celebrates World Down Syndrome Day with “Lots of Socks” Awareness Campaign
Friday, the UConn Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities proudly joined communities around the world in celebrating World Down Syndrome Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the unique strengths, contributions, and achievements of individuals with Down syndrome.
In honor of the day, UCEDD staff participated in the global “Lots of Socks” campaign by wearing bright, colorful, and mismatched socks. This visible act of solidarity helps spark conversations, raise awareness about Down syndrome, and promote inclusion and acceptance for all.
World Down Syndrome Day is an opportunity to celebrate the beauty of diversity and to recognize that every individual brings unique gifts to our communities. At UConn UCEDD, we are committed to advancing inclusion and ensuring that all people are valued, respected, and support.
The vibrant display of socks symbolizes individuality and reminds us that differences should be celebrated. UCEDD continues to advocate for a world where individuals with Down syndrome — and all people with disabilities — are fully included and have the opportunity to thrive.
