We are deeply grateful to our dedicated Peer Supporters at UConn Health who volunteer their time, compassion, and expertise to care for colleagues during challenging moments. This page serves as both recognition for their vital contributions and a living resource hub for those in the role.

Become a Peer Supporter

To become a UConn Health Peer Supporter, a volunteer employee must complete Peer Supporter training. Training sessions are typically held twice a year. To join the interest list for the next training, please email peersupportgroup@uchc.edu.

Peer Supporters utilize evidence-based tools and strategies to provide structured, timely, and consistent support to peers who are experiencing or at risk for physical, psychological, or emotional distress and burnout. With a focus on individual wellness, social community, and organizational change, peer supporters recognize the importance of addressing both individual and modifiable systemic factors that affect resilience.

In this role, peer supporters are vital to the mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of UConn Health and the Peer Support Program. This dedicated section will also feature ongoing content updates, resources, and best practices for trained peer supporters.
