Provider ICD-10 Coding Education
Transitional Voucher - UConn Medical Group Billing
Transitional vouchers have been created for all UConn Medical Group specialty clinic areas that are not currently using NextGen. Since ICD-10 is a more specific code set than ICD-9, the purpose of these transition vouchers is to offer education to providers so they can more easily make the change from ICD-9 to ICD-10 diagnosis coding. Transitional vouchers show the ICD-9 codes that are currently being used, as well as the corresponding ICD-10 code(s). The ICD-9 codes are shown with a gray background and the corresponding ICD-10 code(s) are listed below them. Providers are to use the boxes next to the ICD-10 codes to select the appropriate primary, secondary, and tertiary diagnosis code(s). Charge entry staff will enter the associated ICD-9 code.
Transitional vouchers were implemented on July 1, 2015, and will be used until September 30, 2015. Once ICD-10 is implemented on October 1, 2015, the ICD-9 codes will be removed from the transitional vouchers. At that time, ICD-10 downtime vouchers for clinics using NextGen will also be available.
