University Safety reminds students, staff, and faculty that a free app is available to enhance their safety on campus.

Many students, particularly undergrads, are aware of and using LiveSafe, which provides direct communication to University Safety dispatchers, virtual escort service while walking or driving, and instant access to campus safety maps, emergency procedures, and other resources.

“The Safewalk feature, which is the virtual escort that allows members of the community to have anyone in their contacts or emergency communications virtually walk or drive with them to their destinations, is a popular feature with students, but it is available to all of us in the UConn and UConn Health communities,” says Deputy Police Chief Justin Gilbert. “Additionally, you can reach dispatch no matter where you are, either to report something suspicious or in an emergent 9-1-1 type situation.”

LiveSafe is available for both iPhone and Android devices.
