We are pleased to announce that Dr. Alise Frallicciardi has accepted the position as our next Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the School of Medicine and UConn Health. Alise served the institution very well as the Department’s Interim Chair since July of 2025, respected by all as a leader and as a clinician educator and scholar.

Dr. Frallicciardi graduated from UConn with a degree in Nutritional Biochemistry, completed a master’s degree in biomedical sciences at Colorado State University, and graduated from UConn School of Medicine and its Emergency Medicine Residency Program. Alise then completed a fellowship in Healthcare Simulation at Hartford Hospital’s CESI and an MBA from UMASS Isenberg School of Business. As an excellent physician educator, Alise was an outstanding residency core faculty member and assistant residency program director in Emergency Medicine. She has established herself as a nationally renowned educator and innovator in healthcare simulation, publishing a national simulation fellowship curriculum, and serving as the School of Medicine’s director of Medical Simulation with an expanded simulation-based education. She directed and launched the Medical School’s Transition to Residency Course. Alise has won numerous teaching awards such as the prestigious Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) Distinguished Educator Award. She has led national committees including the SAEM Simulation Academy and currently serves on the finance committee for SAEM. For six years prior to becoming the Interim Chair, Alise served as the Medical Director of Emergency Services. She has proven herself as an effective leader, an enthusiastic educator, a caring clinician, and an effective administrative leader who fosters efforts that improve the quality of patient care and safety as well as advances the SOM’s academic mission.
