2026 Nightingale Awards for Excellence in Nursing

Candidate Criteria

Any registered nurse or advanced practice registered nurse may be nominated for recognition by their colleagues or supervisors if they are involved in clinical practice, leadership, scholarship or education.

Every nomination is anonymously reviewed and rated on these specific criteria:

  • Made a significant impact on patient care and/or the nursing profession
  • Gone “beyond the call” in a clearly illustrated scenario
  • Demonstrated excellence above what is normally expected
  • Shown commitment to the community, in a way that is significantly above the norm
  • Made a lasting impact in their field throughout their career

The more detail you provide about your candidate in your nomination narrative the better the committee can evaluate and score your candidate.

Submit your nomination by March 1.

Six honorees will be announced Spring 2026.

Please Note: Each nomination is kept anonymous to the review committee. The committee consists of Nightingale Recipients who scores each nomination on the five criteria noted above on a scale of 1-10. Candidates with the highest score will earn this prestigious award.
